Revolutionizing Industries with Large Quantitative Models
A Preview of SandboxAQ’s Masterclass at HumanX 2025
Step into a future of quantitative AI driven innovation. Join us for a 45-minute masterclass ‘From LLMs to LQMs: The Next Leap in Artificial Intelligence’, on March 12, 11:00–11:45 am, at The Fontainebleau Hotel, Las Vegas, in Capri 6 on level 4, to discover how quantitative AI and Large Quantitative Models (LQMs) are solving global challenges and impacting industries. In just a few short years, Large Language Models (LLMs) and Generative AI have permeated nearly every facet of our lives. While their capabilities continue to grow and evolve, producing new applications and innovative use-cases, their roots in language-based data keep them relegated to content generation, analysis, customer communications, and related duties. Similarly, new reasoning models such as OpenAI's "o1" and "o3-mini" series or DeepSeek R1 also rely on language-based training. Without a doubt, most organizations could benefit greatly from implementing LLMs for cost savings and process optimization, or reasoning models for problem solving, coding, scientific reasoning, and agentic workflows. However, for organizations that also rely on quantitative data and insights to drive economic value for their business, there is another type of AI designed specifically for this purpose.
The next evolution of AI for enterprises is Quantitative AI, powered by Large Quantitative Models (LQMs). LQMs integrate vast amounts of physics, chemistry, biology and other quantitative data – versus images and text found on the Internet – using machine learning, together with complementary modules that directly solve the fundamental equations. LQMs are used to tackle complex computational challenges in aerospace, biopharma, chemicals, cybersecurity, defense, energy, financial services, healthcare and life sciences, manufacturing, transportation, and more.
When powered by physics-based mathematical equations that govern the behaviors of molecules, LQMs can identify or discover new molecules, compounds and alloys that have specific, desirable properties. When paired with advanced sensing technologies, LQMs can power next-generation medical devices for faster, more accurate cardiac diagnosis, or cutting-edge navigation systems that do not rely on vulnerable GPS signals or can operate in places where GPS doesn’t reach. In other areas, LQMs can help optimize financial portfolios for better performance and reduced risk, or strengthen cybersecurity defenses against current and future threats. We’ve only just begun scratching the surface of LQM’s potential for innovation and value creation.
Harnessing the Power of LQMs to Drive Real-World Impact
These use-cases are not speculative – some of the world’s largest enterprises, academic research institutions and government agencies are implementing LQMs to solve complex challenges, drive innovation and gain a competitive advantage.
For example, LQMs are delivering new breakthroughs and helping lower the time, cost and risk of developing new drugs – each of which average 10-15 years and $2 billion to $4 billion to develop, with 90% failing at or before clinical trials. Before partnering with SandboxAQ and implementing LQMs, Alzheimer’s researchers at the UCSF Institute for Neurodegenerative Diseases typically screened 250,000 drug compounds a year, resulting in 25 potential candidates for further study. With LQMs, they are now able to screen 5.6 million compounds a year with a 30x hit rate increase.
Other industries have seen similar results. Partnering with leading battery technology company NOVONIX, SandboxAQ’s LQMs reduced lithium-ion battery lifecycle prediction times by 95%, with 35x greater accuracy, decreasing testing times from months or years to just days. These insights enable battery manufacturers to focus R&D on the most promising chemistries and designs, which lowers costs and speeds better batteries to market faster.
LQMs have also shown promise in environmental remediation by calculating the energy required to break the molecular bonds of PFAS (so-called Forever Chemicals) and we’re exploring additional sustainability applications in the Energy sector.
These are just some of the examples that SandboxAQ SMEs will cover during the masterclass. If you’re at the conference, we encourage you to join the Masterclass to gain illuminating insights and see live demos of LQMs in action.
While the benefits of LQMs are abundantly clear and inherently measurable, enterprises seeking maximum ROI from AI should not simply rely on a single approach. Each AI model or approach has its strengths, and combining them could deliver even greater compound benefits. As the pace of AI innovation continues to accelerate, we hope you’ll join us at HumanX 2025 to get a glimpse of how LQMs are revolutionizing industries and what the future holds. Contact us today to learn more about LQMs, and we look forward to seeing you at the show.
